Hello folks... I think I have this "blogging" up and running.
As I mentioned I'm in Tasmania. It's warm, sunny and always a reminder of childhood. It's great to show my friend around the areas where I grew up. Today was a free day. I spent time working on patterns and catching up with the mundane, but I thought I would go back just a little.
Monday last I flew back from New Zealand with Keith to begin a frantic few days of preparation for Tasmania. As luck would have it, the phone and Internet went out.... Daughter Callie came up with Grandson Kodi to spend time with us... I received a phone call from the Readers Digest re a photo shoot.
In October I spent a few days with a Journalist from Sydney talking about Quilting in Australia... to be honest I really didn't think anything more about it.. I didn't hear from him until now.. Life's hectic and I really forgot about it...
The phone call was to organise a photo shoot for Readers Digest, Heavens.... OK, I thought, a few minutes to take a photo...!!! How wrong could I be.
Tuesday morning 2 young men arrived with cases of cameras and lights.. 3 hours later we were finished.... I must say I felt like an imposter... I'm a photographer gals, I hate having my photo taken. The young men were delightful and made light of the proceedings.
Wednesday I woke early, around 3.00 am and finished off the left over chinese and icecream and prepared to drive to Melbourne... I got as far as Mount Barker and realised that I had left a cord for my computer home. So I finally left at 5.30.
It was lovely driving, the moon was full and it was a mild calm morning... I reached for a diet coke and snapped my thumbnail on the coke can lid... So needing a coffee, I pulled into a service station at Tailem Bend and purchased some super glue to fix the offending nail, it works a treat gals. I had an interesting conversation with the Service Station owner, about ages and such... it was quite bizarre !!! And took off.
I met friend Joan at 2.00 and we waited in the cool of an airconditioned cafe and ate wicked ice cream with maltesers scrunched into it.
Joan loved the boat trip over and we chatted late into the evening.
The next day we drove to launceston to pick up friend Pat and then took off for Stanley our home for the next 3 days. Of course we visited a few quilt shops, and to visit and we introduced Joan to scones and jam and cream at the reaspberry farm.
Class was super...
19 gals of all ages worked hard on their projects and ended up with works of art.

From Tassy

Hi folks, still working on getting this up and running.....

Best wishes....Pam

Tasmania.

It's a bright sunny day and I've just finished breakfast... My friend Pat and Joan have joined me in the parlor, the sun is streaming in the window and we are relaxing in our pajamas over a leisurely breakfast. Our accommodation is at Granny Smith's cottage. It looks forever like a small English 30's House with latticed windows, formal and informal parlors, and the decor is definitely of a past era. My bedroom has a small sitting room agenda and I can imagine days spent knitting and sewing listening to the old bakelight radio in the corner. It also reminds me of my Grandparents house.
We're in the town of Stanley in the North West of Tasmania. I taught for two days and we had a get together last night with quilting friends from further afield.
As this is a new feature I will take a little time to put up the photos on the web... I'm still negotiating my way around this site.

It was just wonderful to come back to visit the gals at Smithton. Renewing friendships and catching up with news of the past year.

What a privilige to be in the position of sharing my ideas on quilting with friends made through quilting.

This is a short note, but I will have more time to work on this format in the next few days.

Out of the shed

Hello folks. This is my first attempt at writing a diary in this format. I will only be able to write about my trips, but I think I will continue to publish my photos on webshots.

Take care. Pam
