Kansas City Market.

Morning folk... It's been interesting already this morning.
I ran out of milk and they want $2.50 for glass and $2 for delivery... so I have just eaten a breakfast of tinned clam chowder and crackers (with a fork)and diet coke. (lucky I take a lot of vitamins)
We got caught in a hotel change over. We have had to beg in our best Aussie accent to have our room serviced for the past two days. Yesterday the hotel was Doubletree, and today it is the Raddison...go figure.
I'm on the pull out bed in the other room and went to go to bed early this morning.. and no bedding... it keeps disappearing even if the room is not serviced.!! and then I find out my spoon I collected from Mc Donalds was missing too. Hence the soup with a fork. It's amazing what becomes important to you on the road. You still have to eat, wash, iron and work and become very innovative.
Yesterday on our way back to the hotel we spied an antique sewing bust on the side walk near the trash can.
OOh we were so tempted, it was gorgeous. It even had a bustle. Some 20 minutes later as we were having coffee and lime pie in the hotel restaurant.. we see the wonderful bust being wheeled across the road by an excited conference attendee. Obviously she has a car, not a plane... how tempting, how lucky she is and the bust will retire to a loving home.
This is the last day for business and tomorrow we travel. As I sit in my hotel room high above the city of Kansas the sunny day outside the window gives the promise of warmth and comfort.... Unfortunately the TV news tells me the opposite it is very cold...
I spent this early part of the morning packing and re-arranging bags.. I pack everything in the air pressure bags, it helps with bulk, but not weight which is something that I am always aware of.
Spring Market...
The floor space covers about 9 football fields. 1334 booths and 9 different quilt exhibits takes the fittest amongst us at least 3 days to get around.
Friday night was sampler spree, where some 1000 folk line up for 3 hours before the opening time... It becomes a bit of a feeding frenzy especially around the Moda stand.
There are seminars each day and quilt shop owners get to share with the best in the business. I have taken 3 of these seminars. I learnt a lot as a Tutor at the seminars. I probably have looked at some aspects of Quilting a little differently.

Those of you who have taken classes with me know that I am very particular about the products I use and I have had the opportunity to talk with manufacturers and distributors alike. I've been able to look at packaging, printing the trends in quilting notions and of course the latest fabrics. I have wonderful threads to audition and lots of new ideas.
I am in awe of the way the vendors decorate their booths. Di has photographed many of them and I follow behind her. Wish we could do the same at home...

I didn't see any Aussie magazines there though. You know, our magazines are highly prized.. maybe I missed them.

Time is racing on and I have people to meet and so little time. So the blog is finished for the day.
